When you ring this number you will be asked to give your details, a brief description of your ailment and
told the on-call doctor will call you back as soon as he can.
In life-threatening emergencies such as severe bleeding, collapse, unconsciousness and

NHS Walk-in Centre
Norfolk’s Walk-in Centre (WIC) is there to help with minor injuries, illnesses, emergency contraception
and health advice. The WIC is located next to Sainsbury’s Superstore, Pound Lane, Thorpe St Andrew,
Norwich.No appointments are necessary.
Opening times are:
Monday to Saturday 7.00am to 10.00pm.
Sundays and bank holidays 9.00am to 10.00pm.

What Rates As A Medical Emergency?
For any of the following, attend the nearest accident and emergency department or call 999 for
an ambulance:
- Chest pain (if suspected heart attack, call an ambulance at once).
- Unconsciousness.
- Heavy blood loss.
- Suspected broken bones.
- Severe breathing difficulties.
- Head injury.
- Deep wounds - eg stab wounds.
